Spring Dance Classes

Classes to be Offered* in East Machias

April 6 - June 9, 2020

10 week spring session:

Ballet 1

Ages 7-9

Mondays 3:30-4:15 

an intro to the musicality and terminology of classical ballet

$125 for 10 week session

Ballet 2

Ages 10 - 15

Mondays 4:30-5:30 

a focused approach to classical ballet technique and dance

$125 for 10 week session

*Classes for younger students will be added in the Summer Session.

PLEASE NOTE: Classes will be held on May 25, which is Memorial Day observed. Also, the last day of this 10 week session, June 9th, will include a short presentation for the parents/families of the students.

GENERAL INFORMATION and POLICIES

Tuition

Payment in cash or check form is due in full on the first day of classes. You may bring payment to class on the first day, or mail ahead of time to Autumn Cook, 72 Old US Route 1, Jonesboro ME 04648.  Checks may be made out to Autumn Cook. A 10% discount is offered for each additional student from the same household. This discount also extends to Alan Cook's Music Lessons!

Class Cancellation Policy

In the event of classes being canceled by the instructor, a refund will be given per canceled class. Classes missed by the student will not be refunded. In the event of a cancelled class, we may have the option to make up the class, at the same time, on the Thursday of the same week, TBA.

Dress Code - for solidarity, safety, tradition, and aesthetics - 

Girls should wear a leotard and tights. Hair should be worn in a bun; if it's too short for a bun, it should be held securely off the face.

Boys should wear t-shirt and exercise shorts/sweatpants/leggings.

Ballet slippers, pink or black, are required for everyone.

Instructor

Autumn Cook grew up studying dance in Lubec with Denise Plouffe, Machias with Karen Varian, and Bangor with Ivy Clear-Forrest, and has performed with Downriver Theatre in Machias and the Bangor Youth Ballet. She earned her B.A. in Dance from Dean College School of Dance in Franklin, MA. She danced professionally for a year in Florida with Walt Disney World, and since then has occasionally taught dance in the Downeast area. Downeast Song and Dance is a collaborative effort with her musical husband, Alan Cook, which strives to provide quality artistic training and experience in the Downeast area.

Location:

Spring 2020 Dance Classes will be held in the Arise gym (formerly the East Machias Baptist church), which is located next to the East Machias Fire Station and across the street from Archibald's gas station in East Machias.

*Please park in the Municipal parking lot on the far side of the fire house.
